According to Reuters, the company's looking into a rarely-used millimeter wave frequency that is capable of transmitting large amounts of data, but only if the receiving equipment is in the line-of-sight.

Reuters' cabal of experts has also suggested that this project could be used to build out awireless broadband network that's much cheaper than fiber. Rather than digging up roads and laying cables to each individual home, transmitters placed on the top of each building in a street could be easier and much more cost effective -

What vendor do you think they'll be using for this wireless tech ? Cisco ? AeroHive? Aruba? Ruckus?

Or will they be developing their own wireless tech?

Morons spending billions dropping fiber. Think you can innovate being old as fukk bruhs.

What they're talking about is old tech though. In the networking world its known as point to point wireless. The home base has a tower with an antenna and they shoot the signal out to a building that has one of their antennas on top of it. As long as the antenna is facing their wireless signal you have a connection. If they have these shyts all over the place it could be pretty damn good. As is, you can already do Voice over IP and other high bandwidth activities so having these everywhere could be pretty good.
