From Mahalia Jackson to the Rev Al...Staple Singers ...Mississippi mass choir needs a shout out...to Yolanda Adam's Cece Winans Marvin Sapp ....that genre of music is still solid ....rock music...rap...r&b...has declined terribly....new gospel artists grabbed the baton from the elders and kept it movin :manny:

There was a time there where I thought the rappers were going to take over gospel as well. You had TobyMac and grits trying to infiltrate from Tennessee. Lecrae was a big thing for a minute too.

Later on you had fusion artists like tye tibbett who tried to mix traditional gospel with a little bit of rap and a little bit of r&b. But traditional gospel is still staying strong.

I ain't been to church in years but the nostalgia off of this thread almost makes me want to pop in for a service later today. :mjcry:

Almost :whoa:
