This is one of the dumest things I ever heard
BMW started the "ultimate driving machine" way before the existence of the 550i engine. It originated in the 70's for god sakes. They got popular due to their NA I6 engines.
And op is a buffoon like always. Drives a basic rental 3 series and wants to act like he has proper experience.
I'm talking about currently available models. Not trying to go down a Wikipedia hole and start rattling off engines and going down the history of BMW.
The German engineering edge that existed in the "Ultimate Driving Machine" from back in the day is gone in the smaller engines. PERIOD.
And I don't give a fukk if you think it's dumb or not. If you're thinking about buying a 328 or a 528 your money is better spent elsewhere. An argument can be made for the 335/340/535 but most publications had the GS350 beating the F10 535 out the gate . What's so ultimate about that?
And this is coming from someone with direct experience and is a few weeks away from buying a new M3 or a used F10 M5 after driving pretty much everything. So I'm not hating on BMW.
