A year ago somebody put me on to the fact that Metro (DC) was looking to hire rail operators from off the street so I applied and forgot about it. A year from the day I applied, I get invited to take an assessment which I passed. Next came an interview with two brehs that been in the game for damn near 20 years. They kept hammering on about the importance of safety. So I told them about my years in TSA. Straight up told them you cant get more safety minded than keeping bombs off planes. "If a train derails people might get killed., If a plane blow up everybody dead." Them stakes are higher.:yeshrug:

That right there got me the job offer.

Gonna be leaving the feds after 15 years. The burnout of my current job is hitting me bad, yeah the money is great but the stress of the work is a killer.

Congratulations... hopefully it pays more than we pay our bus drivers.

Congratulations bruh
I don’t blame you
Stress kills
Thanks, I'm all the way tired of my current job and the heavy production caseloads. I pretty much jumped on the quiet quit wave with this position. I'm at the point that I would rather cut grass all day than to process another case. Gonna put my papers in, cash out my TSP money and chill for a minute until I pass the medical/background check with Metro.

That stress took my grandfather out at 62.

Now ain't this some shyt. Amtrak just came out the cut with an interview for a conductor position this Friday. :damn:

Just as Metro sends me background and medical eval appointments too. I know I applied to a lot of jobs out here but I never thought Amtrak would even give me the call. Gonna go for the interview as well to keep all options open.

Update: Amtrak interview went damn good, the breh broke everything down on what I would be doing on the Northeast Corridor as a conductor. Pointed out that if I got the job I wont get Social Security, but railroad retirement which would get me a higher payout than SS.:ohhh:

I would be on call 24/6 on the board.
