Indians in India sometimes refer to dark skin people as Black and its even used as a slur. Pretty sure this goes back to before the United States even existed.

Theres legit Indians with complexion that dark but yea this is strange since its not his real color. I read in an anthropology book once that the theory for race (at least one of the old ones) went like this:

Humans (homo sapiens) originate in East Africa (Ethiopia/Kenya) and stay there for millions of years before splitting into three groups, one stayed in East Africa, one went to West Africa and become the Niger-Congo groups that in turn split into Bantu groups

The others cross Somalia into Yemen and traveled all the way into India. Then from India, traveled back into the Middle East, went North and then split again, one group mixing with Neanderthals (which became Europeans) and the other group mixing with Denisovans (who became East Asians) and then those East Asians crossed the land bridge into North America to become Indigenous Native Americans.

Dont know how true that still holds but Indian genetics are almost as ancient as Africans
