Hawks players and coaches will spend time talking with troops, handing out team gear and taking pictures with the soldiers as a token of the organization’s gratitude for their service. The Hawks will visit in-patient rooms in addition to visiting those veterans who reside in the Community Living Center of the hospital.
The hospital visit will honor the Commitment to Service initiative, introduced this season as part of NBA Cares Hoops for Troops. Commitment to Service is a collaborative effort made by the NBA, the Department of Defense, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin E. Dempsey and Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel.
Due to hospital privacy policy, media access will be restricted to the second and third floors of the Community Living Center.
