Background. Some people at my church and this friend of mine from college (who happens to be a white girl) decided to pass out bottle water to people who was standing at the bus stops. We passed out about 200 bottles (for free not selling them). Anyway, I'm in this city outside of Detroit called Highland Park where they're notorious for pulling people over. Setting traps.
So I always drive the speed limit. Anyway, I pulled out of this strip mall and saw a sign that said Right Turn only. Now, in my mind I'm thinking "Well, they don't me to turn left. So I'll just go straight across to the strip mall across the street." Next thing I know I hear the sirens. No flash lights just that sound.
So I'm thinking "I know wasn't speeding. What's this about?" The cop pulled beside my car. They was both Black.
Cop: How are you doing sir?
Me: Fine.
Cop: Do you know what you did wrong?
Me: No sir
Cop: What did the sign say?
Me: It said "right turn only" so I went straight.
Cop:

Me:Right turn only
Cop: Licence and registration.
Cop: How long have you been driving
Me: 16 years (actually it's beeen longer and I meant since 16.
I was really nervous then.
Cop: Who car is this?
Me: It's my mamas
(I have my own car but she doesn't drive the freeways. So I drove her car to blow it out).
Cop: Is that your son in the back?
Me: No sir, just a friend.
Cop: Looked at the white girl. Then looked at me.
Cop: Sir, next time follow the sign.
Me: Yes, sir.
He let me go. With a white girl in the front and a kid in the back that wasn't my child.
Lesson learned. When it says "right turn only. It means right turn only" I was mad nervous but I guess since they saw I hadn't had a ticket since '08, he figured I was telling the truth. The crazy thing is though before we left our meeting place. My moms gave me the registration and insurance. If she didn't remember, I would be in jail right now
