I have been looking at this masters degree for awhile now, but I would be paying out of pocket, so I have instead been thinking of just getting grad certificate which would be half the price.

Or I could just start trying to get some IT certs. The problem with certs is I am turned off by fact there are so many, and when you get one you are only temporarily certified in them. Another thing is I don’t really want to work in IT. I would prefer telecommunications which is related but still different.

I’m kind of torn on this. With the grad certificate I would be learning more about what I am actually into, but it is much more expensive. I can probably get some tuition reimbursement from my job but that is only 5.2k a year. That probably wouldn’t even be enough for two classes.

What do you guys think ?

More and more companies are changing course from traditional educational requirements towards experience based requirements. Nobody cares if you can do integrals in the IT field, they will care if you have an SQL cert. Go with the cert
