GRAMBLING, La. (KNOE) - Grambling State University will receive millions in additional funding after Governor Jeff Landry signed appropriations bills on June 30.
The Louisiana legislature passed the appropriations bills at the start of June 2025. Grambling secured more than $20 million once Landry signed those bills.
Grambling received such funding through the following acts:
- House Bill 1 (Act 1)
- $1.5 million in increased general operating support for FY 2025-26
- House Bill 460 (Act 461)
- $6.7 million for renovation and expansion of athletic facilities
- $200,000 for overlay of College Avenue Rd.
- House Bill 2 (Act 2)
- $2.7 million in priority 1 and 2 funding toward a new criminal justice / Ph.D. in criminology academic facility (part of an $18.7 million total project)
- $9.9 million for critical infrastructure improvements, emergency repairs, and utility system assessments to transform the built environment
- House Bill 639 (Act 298)
- Estimated $2 million in projected gaming revenue to support athletic programs
Lamelle said the university thanks Landry and the Louisiana legislature for “prioritizing higher education and for recognizing the vital role Grambling State University plays in expanding access and opportunity, strengthening Louisiana’s workforce, and preparing the next generation of leaders.”
