i know most of us listen to more than hip hop. but i thought it was a great article to post. basically it talks about how us blacks started house music yet we missed out on opportunities to make real money when it became global. how dance music wasn't black enough for us? we didnt hop on the rave music trend. yet you got chris brown and neyo singing on rave tracks.

saw this article a few days ago.

Its the classic .. "stay true to the art" or "selling out" argument.

Along with the fact that most AFRICAN AMERICANS (not only DJs) have no BUSINESS sense .. of what is needed to become a global icon.

Black ppl usually are unadapting to change and like underground culture. The article did a great job of breaking down the business structure of EDM too.

I use to produce a underground subgenre called "JERSEY CLUB" a deriviative of Baltimore Club and Philly Club. And I stopped because there is ABSOLUTELY no business structure for those who create that music. Unlike EDM where there is a business model. Labels who care and people who are willing to spend money on it. I stopped ... and honestly if i was gonna produce again it would be straight up edm .. why because its profitable .. and as a Dj i rather be the one getting $ than the one known as being "cool" and not getting paid from my music.
