ERIC CHARBONNEAU/ERIC CHARBONNEAU/INVISION/APJames Franco may have tried to meet up with an underage girl via Instagram in New York.
Did James Franco try to pick up an underage girl via Instagram?
The 35-year-old actor, or someone posing as him, apparently tried to meet up with a 17-year-old girl at her hotel room through the popular social media site.
Lucy Clode, who is a teen tourist from Scotland, was in New York this week with her mother when she interacted with the star outside of his Broadway show, "Of Mice and Men."
When the two met Monday, Clode shot an Instagram video with Franco and he reportedly told her, "You gotta tag me."
That she did, which is how the pair allegedly began flirting.
The exchange between Franco and Clode can be seen in screen shots (via Gawker), that were originally uploaded and removed from Imgur.

First the two talk back and forth in the comments section of one of Clode's uploads.
"Who are you with, do you have a bf, when is your bday?" the possibly fake Franco asked the young blond, who was in town as an early birthday present.
"Nearly 18, my mum and not if you're around," Clode replied of turning legal this May and having a significant other.
Franco's Instagram name @jamesfrancotv continued with questions including asking for her phone number and where she was staying.
Once the conversation, that has yet to be proven as real or fake was taken to an iPhone, the person alleging to be the "Oz the Great and Powerful" star asked if he could see her.
@JAMESFRANCOTV VIA TWITTER'I'M NOT! I HOPE PARENTS KEEP THEIR TEENS AWAY FROM ME. Thank you ' James Franco responded on twitter to accusations that he tried to pick up a 17 year-old on Wednesday.
Clode did not believe she was actually talking to Franco so she requested that he send picture proof.
"I will meet you if you write my name on a piece of paper then send it to me with your face also in the picture, please," she wrote.
Franco appeared to have obliged as a photo of what looks like the actor holding up a paper that said "Lucy" showed up on the text screen.
Clode told Franco that she would come back when she was 18 followed by saying her Scottish friends "will never believe her" that they spoke.
"Don't tell," he wrote back.
Franco took to Twitter to address the allegations Wednesday, writing "I'm not! I hope parents keep their teens away from me. Thank you."
Following news of the alleged correspondence, Clode deleted her Instagram account Thursday afternoon.
A rep for Franco has yet to return the Daily News' request for comment.
