It's like you're the making the case for firing Cashman. :lolbron:
above everything else, the unwillingness to properly develop prospects (key word: properly, as I don't feel he even did right by Wells or Gil) is just cause to boot him and it's built on a BS excuse, which is that the fans wanna see stars and that young teams don't win.

Fans want stars that are homegrown. Judge is their biggest one in a long time.

I think we drafted 5 SS.
These guys have more money than anybody.

Hire the best scouts. The best coaches. The best analytics people.

Top dollar. Who gives a fukk?

Stop trying to be Billy Beane. Billy did the shyt he did because he had to. Because he didn’t have Yankees resources. If Billy Beane was the Yankees GM you bet your fukkin ass he would have signed Bryce Harper or Corey Seager.

Here we got Brian Cashman drafting 82 shortstops hoping one of them becomes Alvaro Espinoza.

again, don't worry about the position specifically. Most guys that young who play SS are selected because they can in theory move to most positions without much issue. You could be a SS today but you could move to virtually any position except catcher.

13 of the first 27 picks in the draft were shortstops.

Of course you think this. Definitely no agenda here

(FTR, I would trade him. I'm still not high on him, despite his numbers)
Yankees fans don’t want to hear this but it’s more likely Spencer Jones becomes a regular major leaguer than Jasson Dominguez.

There’s obviously more bust potential for Jones but the ceiling to me is higher.

Jasson Dominguez hasn’t shown the ability to square up the ball consistently. Right now he’s just a switch hitting kid with good bat speed who can’t play the field very well.

And Dominguez already strikes out as much as Jones anyway.

Unless we see a major improvement in 2026, the stock on Dominguez is gonna tank pretty hard.

This is starting to feel similar to Volpe who had a spark when he started…

No agenda. I've seen him play in person. The big loop in his swing to me prevents him from ever being great. I wouldn't be opposed to an OF of Dominguez, Jones and Judge, but realistically Jones can solve some problems for this team if utilized correctly on the market.

Volpe was a strikeout machine who struggled to reach the Mendoza line though. He also struck out a ton because he can’t catch up to anything faster than 91-92mph while the Martian strikes out more chasing stuff, which you can more easily coach out of someone. Dominguez is hitting for a respectable average despite inconsistent playing time. I’m optimistic about him.

not nearly the same (keep in mind, Dominguez is 2 years younger than Jones)

It's not good to have higher bust potential (pause) on a team that doesn't pride themselves on developing players. High ceiling, IF he makes the kind of adjustments Judge made, which is really tough to assume. Ceiling to me is Schwarber but could actually defend. However, the only aspects of Schwarber for Jones I see sticking are the negatives (K's, low average; Schwarber's damn near a unicorn at his ability to walk and get on base. If Jones isn't among the league leaders in homers annually, it's hard to bat him higher than 6th.) Jones' speed could be an asset, but for a team that desires athleticism and speed, they don't know what to do with it when they get it because they're middle of the pack at best in steals as a team.

Dominguez will tease me by having a hot streak.

He’s been good the past few weeks.
I recall him having a good stretch in May.

But I haven’t seen it really click for him.
Let’s see.

I look at how the Yankees handle Dominguez and then I see a team like Astros and how they handle Cam Smith, who also had to change positions.

Struggled early and the Astros would sit him to clear his head, not because they felt a need to get their fourth outfielder going, but once he got going, they stopped messing with him and decided to give him all the reps he needed and now he's really good. Why? Because the Astros believe in guys actually having momentum and not these "scheduled" days off.
