Okay, as a former die hard Raider fan I’m going to just flat out give you my opinion on this situation because it’s layers to the shyt.
Bottom line, Khalil Mack’s money went to purchasing and developing offsite parking for the Vegas stadium imo. Mark Davis was required by Clark County to have at least 16K parking spots, but was able to get approved for a little over 14K. This was not factored into the the 750mil from NV, 600mil from BOA, & the 200 mil from the NFL’s G4 loan. The Raiders announced at the stadium committee meeting they were purchasing 3 sites ranging from a mile to 4 miles outside of the stadium currently being built, because the stadium site only has about 2500 parking spots designated. Fans will have to be shuttled in from the parking facilities, unless they wanna walk in 90-100 degree Vegas heat to the stadium on game day.
Davis decision to pay Carr instead of franching him was the wrong move for him & Carr. Carr will have be paid 40 mil guaranteed over the last two years, but Carr’s contract has outs which means his dead cap # gets smaller and smaller the next two seasons, which means he could be cut or moved if Gruden decides to move on.
Then comes Grudens obnoxious contract.
Grudens hands may have been tied on Mack because of Davis’s perseverance on moving out the Bay Area, without really planning it out. Remember, he pivoted from L.A less than a year after being denied. So, instead of competing to bring a title to Oakland, the Raiders organization gives the Bay Area fans another middle finger so they can continue to try and meet all their financial obligations to complete the Vegas Stadium Development.
Gruden imo is just taking the bullets for Mark, like everyone around him does until he decides to say fukk them too.
Reggie McKenzie is next on the Summer Jam screen...
