This is a result of the country abandoning basic financial principles and raking up almost $40 trillion in debt. This was gonna happen eventually tho not as dramatic. They are basically transferring government employees to the private sector so they don't have to pay pensions when they retire. We already know private sector gets rid of you once you start making a certain salary and replace you with a younger and cheaper person.

Still waiting to see if they go full austerity on the social safety net.
