Prostitution in Japan has existed throughout the country's history. While the Prostitution Prevention Law of 1956 states that "No person may either do prostitution or become the customer of it", loopholes, liberal interpretations and a loose enforcement of the law have allowed the Japanese sex industry to prosper and earn an estimated 2.3 trillion yen ($24 billion) per year.[1]

I wasn't expecting that number :dahell:

And that's with people using legal loopholes. They'd be cooked if that shyt was ever made explicitly legal :picard:

Yes, sex work is everywhere all over Japan.

One time, I went in a bar in Shinjuku Tokyo looking for a drink. They pulled out a menu of girls I could choose from and cartoons representing sex acts and how much each costs.

Another time a 60yo lady working the bar made small talk with my coworker and I. Next thing I know, she let us know how much her services are

In Nagasaki, the call girls wear prom dresses and will walk up to you and start massaging your shoulders when you walk through their street.

Went to Japan in the early 00s...

I knew they got busy, I didn't expect that level of depravity everywhere I went.

Phone booths covered with advertisements.

AV shops where the first floor is bikini models, second was Playboy level, and it just got worse. I saw some Charlie Kirk level stuff on the fourth floor and wasn't gonna climb up the next two.

Hoes handing out coupons. 20% off what exactly?

But the thing that really got me was the gorirra pimping at Shibuya square. Young Yakuza jrehs literally pulling coats of high school looking broads.

Saw them same ninjas in Thailand too....

Meh they also include host clubs as sex work so that is a big part of it.
