The only concept of "race' or "ethnicity" i'll defend is when certain demographics tend to be prone to some diseases or ailments, but thats only because people self-segregate and perpetuate certain conditions which are genetically influenced, not because of some rigid attention to concepts of nationalism or history.

It was a stupid post. The first part of the ethnicity reference mentions ancestry as a connecting factor without anything else. There are ethnic groups formed on ancestry and those formed on the basis of language. Black ethnicity relates to race though so it's obviously the latter. Same as white. Moving on, the second part doesn't say anything about the definition. It's just a moot on what ethnic groups can identify with; it doesn't define what an ethnic group must identify with. @Chesirecatdaddy is too stupid to distinguish between the first and second part of his own reference.

you read what he said wrong.....he said the "purest arab" is something like 40-50% african.......and that is true......alot of the white looking arabs that people now mostly associated with arabness are actually not people who used to be considered ethnic arabs but rather they were arabized during the spread of Islam post-Muhammad........the purest arab......aka OG arabs are most closely related to East Africans.......and that shouldn't be surprising since East Africa is just right across the Red Sea and they originally came from there

alot of the people we now know as Arabs wouldn't have been considered Arab 1500 years ago

For those who think arabs are some white race. Just look at the language they speak and what its most related to. Arabic is a Semitic tongue like Hebrew. Both are the only members of the Afro-Asiatic family located outside Africa. The other members of that family are found all over the north, east, and west africa. Its spoken from Nigeria and Mali all the way over to Ethiopia and Somalia. That alone should tell you that the original members of this language group had alot more in common with black folks in Africa than anyone else.
