IDK why everybody else gets to progress in they own ways while NY gotta go back to dust hop. Most young nikkas in NY aint feeling dust hip hop no more. And I dont say dust hop to be disrespectful, but thats pretty much how they view it. The "black" areas that remain in NY probably vibe with the ATL sound more than they would to some Rakim, Wu-Tang, etc etc. They giving they own take to the music that influences them, it aint them trying to bite per se. Even Desiigner doing his own thing at this point, you gotta let artist breathe instead of trying to corner em. Joey for the longest was losing hype cause his fanbase kept spouting this "go back to 1999" shyt. That aint marketable outside of NY anyway.

Who controls the market? Most def not the streets. They have been spoon fed industry made music for over a decade. Ny had its own sound and ways to provide NY with music that was from every location. Now every rapper from NY sounds the same and from the South.

No one buys records no more and the digital albums so save me with that b.s. talk.

Young Pappy wannabe without the lyrics shouting a bunch of tough guy shyt with no rhyme or reason

New York nikkas have zero identity they wanna sound like Chicago,Atlanta,Toronto,Houston and west coast.

The only rappers sounding like New York are Action Bronson, Roc Marciano, Conway, Westside Gunn,Skyzoo, Mayhem Lauren, Dave East and Joey Badass plus all the other older NY acts like Nas, jay, the lox and etc

It's time to make categories for rap like how they do with rock...like indie rock, progressive, metal, classic, etc.

There needs to be hip hop, gangsta/street rap, hardcore. funk, etc. Cause' we stay arguing over what's really hip hop but really comparing apples to oranges

We could label this "Not seriously into music, more interested in engaging social media reaction with fukkery"
