Approximately 25 years ago on the October 3rd 2000 American rapper Guru released his third solo studio album, "Guru's Jazzmatazz, Vol. 3: Streetsoul". It is the third installation to Guru's Jazzmatazz series released five years after the previous entry. Despite not spawning any singles the album charted in multiple countries including the USA, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy and Netherlands.

Guru best known for his work with the producer DJ Premier released his third studio album and the most notable difference to Gang Starr (duo consisting of Guru and DJ Premier) is that the album features multiple producers. Despite this being a Guru solo album the album has one track produced by DJ Premier. Aside the one DJ Premier produced track the album features production by other notable top-tier producers such as DJ Scratch, The Neptunes and Jay Dee. Guru himself is credited as a producer for six of the album's 16 tracks.
