NEWARK — A New York man with a history of sexual offenses was sentenced today to 15 years in state prison for violently sexually assaulting a three-year-old boy he was babysitting in Newark, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today.

Rene Delgado, 33, of Jamaica, Queens, had pleaded guilty on July 18 to first-degree aggravated sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to a press release from the prosecutor’s office.

Delgado was convicted on May 25, 2001 of forcibly sexually abusing two teenage girls and two women on Oct. 13, 2000, records show. The victims were 14, 16, 30 and 52 years old, records show.

For that conviction, Delgado was sentenced to seven years in prison, records show.

On Oct. 6, 2011, Delgado was convicted of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl on Feb. 5, 2011, records show. He was sentenced to a year in jail, records show.
