If you listen to Bruce Prichard's podcast, he has a Montreal Screwjob that is pretty comprehensive. Jim Cornette touches on it pretty extensively on his shoot video Timeline: WWF 1997, as well. There's more than a year of bad blood between the two top performers in WWF at the time that lead up to it, so to really understand it you have to go deeper back in the history.

Oh, god. I'm agreeing with Da King. Shoot me now. But I think it was a work at one point, except the death of Owen fouled things for a reconciliation between Vince and Bret. And then Goldbore kicked him into a concussion that lead to his health problems after that.

Which is to say, I think the bad blood between Shawn and Bret was real, but the screwjob ending was a way to mollify both their egos and give Bret a little more press on his way out the door.

City of Angels :blessed:
People really believe it was a work :mjlol:

Meltzer has reported on it extensively. Legal depositions in different lawsuits (Vince trying to block Wrestling with Shadows from coming out and Owen's lawsuit) have proven it was real, but let's ignore actual legal proceedings and believe it was a work cause some cracked out carny like Kevin Sullivan says it was
