Those who say that the teacher handled it wrong are correct, but I will say this:

It's a very tough job and they definitely don't make enough to have to put it up with all of the disrespect. They are often doing a parent's job (some kids don't have parents, and others have parents that are too busy with work to properly raise them).

I remember one of my favorite teachers left the city high school to go work at an Upstate Private school the first chance that he got. Yea, the salary was probably better, but I'm sure the general attitudes of the students played into his decision as well.

Society lacks accountability these days. It’s just like in the hospital when patients are busting nurses faces with telemetry monitors, and it’s “they aren’t feeling well”. When working with the public you pretty much have to take abuse and love it.

Teacher was wrong. Could have definitely handled that like a true adult. No matter how disrespectful a kid can be, you can’t let someone get you that out of character

I know someone who runs a school and they told me even if a kid hits a teacher, if the teacher hits the student back under any circumstances they will get fired. If i was the kid i would have punched that teacher dead in the face.
