For some reason, most Ethiopians I know consider her the greatest female pop singer Ethiopia has ever produced. Now dont get me wrong, I think shes a great artist and shes in my top 5, but I dont consider her the greatest female pop singer. To me, her vocals sounds Maybe Im not used to it. .Shes got great melodies and is a talented lyricist, but I cant get pass her voice. For me, Kuku Sebsebe deserves to have that goat status.

Its nostalgia my bredren...in the early 90s she was all we had in the U.S. diaspora. I remember ordering her video on the video Box channel.

Plus her voice is unique. It has a off-note, high pitch, quality to it that not many can replicate.

I live in Australia. Im not gonna spend 2 grand for a plane ticket to go to some cultural soccer event in the US. I wish i could tho

I think a lot of it also has to do with her crossover appeal, haven't really listened to her full albums but her hits were the soundtrack of the 90s in Addis
