Hacking group Anonymous has taken down more than 1,000 Islamic State websites in just three days, it emerged today.

The militant Islamist organisation has a huge social media presence, with accounts on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.

ISIS uses the social media accounts to recruit new members and spread propaganda.

But through its Operation ISIS - #OpISIS - the hacking group has been targeting the terrorist group's online presence.

The group celebrated its campaign with a video message showing its notorious Guy Fawkes mask.

It also warned: "ISIS, we will hunt you, take down your sites, accounts, emails and expose you.

"You will be treated like a virus, and we are the cure. We own the internet."

Speaking to The Sun, Middle East expert Mark Almond said: "If you cut off the supply line by which people are being brain-washed unto joining ISIS, the group will start to run short of manpower and crumble.

Why didnt the CIA think of doing this to ISIS first? :ohhh:
