Had Lawler Never Had Heart Attack, How Unbearable Would Heel Cole Be Today?

So I'm watching some old WWE clips on youtube and I'm watching the Nexus vs WWE main event at Summerslam and I'm reminded that Michael Cole was really heeling it up on commentary just plain terrible... below 4/10. I remember an interview he had where he said that once Jerry Lawler had his heart attack on television that he had to instantly do away with the "Heel Cole" gimmick because of the situation and now he can never go back to it. It makes me think if that situation with King never had happened how bad would Heel Michael Cole on the levels of annoyance would he be in 2013 had he kept it up?

I've said this many times, but Heel Cole would have fit perfectly with the Authority angle.

Cole damn sure would have made a better smarmy corporate shill than JBL has.

If heel cole was around for The Authority angle I can honestly say I would've stopped watching the fukking show for good. That was literally the BIGGEST waste of time in the 10-15 years of wwe tv.

A lotta nikkas like to say how people like JBL are so much better than Cole....when one's a color man and one's a PBP man. You can't really compare the two.

In retrospect, a heel PBP Cole was silly. A heel PBP ANYBODY is silly. The PBP man should always be face or neutral. He's gotta be that 'basic' guy that doesn't really stand out other than through his commentary skills. That's people like JR, Styles....and even though many don't think much of his commentary skills, Cole as well

You can't have Cole praising a face Bryan getting beat down backstage one minute, then have him calling matches from a neutral point of view the next minute....shyt is silly

Heel Cole was annoying cause he would literally bury talent/segments on air (and no it's not always Vince/HHH in his ear from the Gorilla position). Though he is more bearable now, I find that all three take turns scoffing during segments, instead of putting shyt over.
Even during that excellent final segment last night you have JBL saying "listen to this Michael, this is amazing!" re: D-Bry chants.. then a second later when Daniel mentions where he's from you hear JBL say "Where?" Same thing with Michael when Brian stated his Father's occupation.. you hear him say "What?!" Just nonsense like that. They can't sell a moment 100%.. always some under the breath garbage. Even King last week with the "that Canadian girl... whatever her name is" re: Renee Young. They talk when the shouldn't (Wyatt entrance) and go Del Rio-heat-silent when they should show excitement (Brock return). Between Lawler's atrocious jokes, JBL's constant flip flopping with face/heel support, and Cole's inability to sell any big moment, they are just a terrible fukking trio
