I’m usually good at interviews and just didn’t have it today. Granted what I do isn’t really related tot he role so it was a stretch, also I was interviewed by a breh for a company with a black CEO and black executives so I don’t have the :mjpls: excuse.

Do you think your fake Baltimore accent turned them off? Did you say that you love tea and crumpets by mistake?

Black owned companies like law firms and insurance companies are some of the toughest interviewers. They do not come to play!

Usually the first few interviews when you get back in that lane will be rough as you have to get that muscle back. Usually end up rambling and not getting to the point. Try to just get some core stories together that cover various scenarios and just use those as a foundation for answering stuff. I'd assume Adversity, Ownership, Difficult Stakeholder, Ambiguous situation the same shyt they touch own regardless of industry.

Been there
You gotta practice that's all
I honestly hate interviews nowadays, especially when interviewers do the STAR Method, I hate that with a passion.
Amazon tried that with me for an AWS position, I did great but didn't get the job because I didn't practice the STAR method.
I knew all about it, they told me to expect it, it was just too much for me to commit to just to practice for an interview i may or may not get the job.

I do well in interviews where it's a new field for me.
I've changed careers many times, always the same industry, but different career paths.
I position my inexperience as a strength

Fill out some applications for jobs that you're over qualified for AND you KNOW will at least interview you

Use them interviews as practice and respectfully decline the job offers

Bum!

Nah but, truthfully, it happens, and everything is practice. Can’t go into these interviews with an ego.
