Yup, I remember articles like this for the first game.
The primordial god Chaos was hugely popular in the first as they were non-binary. Got Achilles and Patroclus, shyt Zagreus himself was able to court Megaera and/or Thanatos.
To be fair a lot of mythology across all cultures in general at times toss gender/sexuality to the side. Birth/Origin stories are crazy. People in today’s age just take it too far. Run with it as part of their own narrative/representation and want to force others to see it that way as well.
