As noted, Triple H conducted an NXT Takeover San Antonio media call today, and during the call Triple H addressed the current state of NXT and the impact the WWE brand split had on NXT and its roster. On the current state of NXT, Triple H offered the following comment:

“I’m not happy with where it is right now by far. I want it to be much better than it is, but it’s a rebuilding process. All these things going on, they all make changes in the ecosystem. Where everything lands at the end of the day is a moving target.”

Triple H went on to identify what makes NXT unique is that it just exists as a WWE Network property, and he hopes some changes will be made in the near future, to help expand and make the NXT TV show better. Triple H added the following:

“I think NXT has the potential to be a lot of things. Where it sits is not 100% my decision. I know those conversations have happened.”

I think the problem has less to do with callups and more with creative / the talent PC has been pumping out. It's obvious Apollo Crews and Nia Jax could have used more time down there but it's not like there hasn't been countless opportunities for other guys to step up in their places

Almas - Not an immediate hit
Sanity - Still finding footing
Samson - Flop
TM61 - Bland
Jose - Definition of a fun NXT character but main roster flop
Dillinger - Solid talent but same issue, also likely getting called up soon
Authors of Pain - Not good workers
Strong - No gimmick or personality
All the women not named Asuka or Ember Moon - Too green in the ring and don't have the passion of 4 Horsewomen

Meanwhile the talent who are ready:
Itami - Hurt too often
Aries - Hurt
Revival & DIY - Who knows how they'll connect with the WWE audience
Joe - Getting called up soon
Asuka & Ember - Top stars in an otherwise really green division
Shinsuke & Roode - Can't feud with each other forever. Language barrier with Shin also a problem

NXT ratings is based on WWE subscriptions so if wrestling is shytty, who is going to cough up 9.99 to a network? He needs to console with Linda and Trump about how the business works instead of bytching.

Biggest problem in NXT is the lack of creativity. Signing names just for the sake of it and then not giving them much to do (TM61, Roderick Strong specifically) hurts.

Who's the head writer down there now?
Last I heard, Ryan Ward was the writer before he was drafted to SD. Back then, it was superb storytelling but I'm not sure who's in charge now.

I don't understand how Ryan Ward is the only competent writer in the entire company

Dusty is dead, Tom Prichard is gone, the folks behind who really made NXT are gone, hence why its suffering HHH

Prichard was never with NXT

I don't know if we're ever gonna see NXT like it was in 2014 (Zayn, Neville, Owens, Breeze, Balor, Four Horsewomen). That was back when NXT had better writing and better shows, the mentoring of Dusty, the weekly NXT's were great and sometimes can't miss. I'll be honest, the weekly NXT's are shyt, Takeover still great though.

Thing is there is potential with the homegrown talent

AoP (need an actual direction or Ellering doing more talking imo)

NWJ showed a mean streak with Aries, just needs more in ring time.

Billie Kay and Peyton need more matches and better in ring competition

Elias Samson needs noteworthy wins hopefully he wins against NWJ and they get the ball rolling with him.

1/2 of TM61 is gonna be out 6-9 months :snoop: They could've got over the same way Revival did by putting on consistent great matches
