Haiti is too proud for their own good, that canal is being built without any studies or analysis of the environmental impact and is just gonna end up drying an already almost dry river.
The Haitian goverment put a stop to it last year but the private businessmen behind it started it up again and since there's supposed to be elections soon the government decided to support it and start a nationalistic angle that includes destroying food they buy from DR because god knows Haiti doesn't need food.
Its a dumb thing to get behind and is just gonna end up hurting haiti more than the DR.

Man the Government can't stop the gangs. So they probably can't shut down the Canal or don't care.
I mean the DR could just go in and stop the Canal that would be seen as an invasion but who'd say anything to the DR about it?

He saw the Dominican army running up on Haitians and removing them from the country, with just the clothes on their backs
