This would be useful.
When the Sixers selected Kansas center Joel Embiid with the third overall pick in the NBA Draft on Thursday night, they had a pretty good idea that he wasn't going to play much (or at all) in 2014-15 due to his recent foot injury. The team seems fine with that as it gives him time to hone his game.
Well Embiid is likely going to hone his game this season with one of the best to ever play it - Hakeem Olajuwon. Bleacher Report's Jason Kings reports Olajuwon reached out to Embiid and offered to train him once he is healthy. "I don’t even remember much of what he said,” Embiid told King. “I was just so excited to be talking to my idol that I couldn’t focus on anything else. I was just like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah!’ It was a big deal to me.”
That must be music to Sam Hinkie's ears.
Embiid, 20, stands a solid seven foot and weighs in at 250 lbs. During his freshman season at Kansas last year, he averaged 11.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game while averaging 23.2 minutes for the Jayhawks.
