Pretty much what will happen here if reparations is a reality. Drake's son has black heritage from his mixed father and black grandfather. If he's born in the US, that technically makes him an American with a direct relative who is a descendant of a slave. Does he get access to reparations despite being clearly white?
Yes, he gets access. Now because he only has 1 grandparent actually descended from the American slave trade, his cut would/could be reduced but I could not say it's right he has no access other than his father's wealth making it unnecessary.

Reading is fundamental. Clearly didn't say she was. I merely asked if y'all would be surprised if she was. What I can claim—with no evidence ofc—is Meghan is probably more European than African but who didn't know than. If her mother took a 23andMe, I highly, highly doubt she'd be close to 90%+. Conjecture? 70+80%. That said, I forget what the thread is about and how ingot to this point. I'm out. ✌🏿
You got here because breh said Meghan Markle has a whole Black mother and you posted her picture as a counterargument. By sources you've cited, your conjecture of 70-80% places her in line with most Black Americans, and the 90+% is a minority within a minority, with the 99-100% category literally being about 1% of American Black people.

On the Coli a woman would have to look like Viola Davis to be the average Black American woman.

Now I agree Megan's mother likely has significant admixture but if Coli niqqas are gonna say she isn't black then they need to be ready for the population they already complain about to be cut down to 10% or less lol

If you have 3 biracial grandparents (I'm curious as to where they're/you're from for that probability to happen) then you're closer to Megan Markle and Lonzo Ball and your view on the one drop rule than you are being your definition of "black".

Edit: You said Florida
Yes, I have three biracial grandparents. Part of my family migrated from Louisiana to Florida, mixed colonies were common over there.

But when I say biracial it doesn’t mean exactly 50/50.

My African DNA is around 65% according to 23andMe. I believe Ancestry said something like 62%.

So am I fully black? No.

And I’ll admit 30-40% European DNA is significant, but it’s not comparable to Megan Markle or Lonzo Ball’s sons. Or Drake’s son.

62-65% is still predominately black. People can look at me and see I have African ancestry.

That’s literally double the amount that a Megan Markle, who looks more like an Italian or a Latina, likely has.

There’s two extremes.

The first extreme is where we’re at now, where people who are obviously white like Drake’s son are getting claimed as black and weirdos like Rachel Dolezal and Shaun King can cosplay as black because “black people come in all shades :troll:

The second extreme would to do like how they do in Latin American countries or even India where they have a whole hierarchy/tier system based on mixtures/percentages.

I’m not advocating for the second extreme, either. My gripe is that people who have majority European DNA are still getting called black.

If I had a child with a white woman, I would not call that child black because that child would have more European DNA than African DNA at that point.

It would be dishonest to call them black at that point.

You didn't use Lonzo's sons in your argument, you said Lonzo himself. Lonzo or Drake's sons are a straw man argument because no one's really calling for a person with 3 white/white-identifying grandparents to be called black.

You can look at Meghan also and see African ancestry, it may not look as strong as some, but it's enough to conclude she isn't just white, Italian included, as she doesn't look Italian. Latina, sure, but depending on exactly what countries they're from, many of them have the same significant or even majority African DNA. Being an East Coaster, you know this.

Where is the source saying Meghan has half (30-33%) the African DNA you do? This is speculation based on her mother not being chocolate enough to fit the Coli driven bill of what a "real Black" woman is supposed to look like. I have found something where herself states she's 43% Nigerian, which is only one national label under Sub-Saharan African DNA and likely suggests a bit more. So she's closer to you than you imagined.

Now we can do this hair splitting because each of you were interested enough in quantifying your backgrounds, but many people aren't, or are not in position to. But give the history of this country, and you knowing biracial people don't split 50/50 necessarily, there's plenty of people who are "technically" more European but culturally clearly are not, especially in places like Louisiana.

There's people "Blacker" than you who look more ambiguous. There's those "Whiter" than you who look more evidently African-descended. Nobody ever has answers for why Michael Ealy or Steph Curry look how they look, but Jordan Peele looks how he looks, and why we should split hairs with them.

You're saying you don't advocate for a Latin American caste/tier system, but this is the only solution to this topic that this board tries to force into an issue. Everyone is not going to run to 23andMe or Ancestry, or even if they did, carrying the mentality expressed here will still lead to that caste system.

If y'all are prepared for that, then by all means.

I messed up. I meant to say Lavar Ball’s sons. I don’t follow basketball like that, I thought Lonzo Ball was the father.

Lavar Ball looks like he has white DNA himself. He has a white wife.

One could deduce, logically, that the kids are more white than black.

So let me state what my entire argument is, once again.

Black people are doing ourselves a disservice claiming people who are likely more European than African.

It creates a situation where black people can be misrepresented, deceived and exploited.

What would be the purpose of us getting reparations if anyone who has some black ancestry can claim black?

Megan Markle herself literally said she grew up and didn’t identify as black. It wasn’t until she went over to the UK and had to deal with their bullshyt that she realized “what it’s like to be treated as a black woman.”

You guys actually don’t even realize when you’re being insulted.

She herself didn’t even consider herself black until she was mistreated, as if blackness is synonymous with being treated like shyt.

And if we’re being honest, they probably only “treated her like a black woman” because the media let it be known she has a black mother when she married that CAC.

Black people who actually look black don’t have the luxury to live in this country and not know they’re black.

I don’t understand why it’s so difficult for y’all to understand or grasp that.

Also in this thread, you have posters saying Drake’s son would be entitled to reparations, but less of them. :dead:

The entire purpose of reparations would be to narrow the wealth gap that was created as a result of slavery.

But if quadroons can get money, what the hell do reparations actually fix? :russ:

My FAMILY is from Florida. I lived there briefly but I’m from Texas.

Down here, we would not look at Megan Markle and think “oh yeah she might be part black.”

You could argue it’s about perception, but since you compared me to her, I can go anywhere in the US and people think that I’m at least half black.

I have not ever had the ability to pass as white.

43% Nigerian is not close to 63-65% African ancestry.

You’re also speculating as much as the rest of us are, she said 43% Nigerian when asked what the results of the test were and left it at that.

But you’re assuming she left out the rest of her supposed African ancestry.

At 43% she’s still more Caucasian than black.

Michael Ealy and Steph Curry look how they look because of several generations of admixture, like myself.

But admixture isn’t really the same as having one direct white parent.

I’ll even entertain that point though.

If individuals like myself were disqualified from getting reparations, that’s fair and I’d be OK with that.

Because if it helps black people as a whole I’m still in support of it.

The basis of my entire argument is not “let’s make everyone get a DNA test and have to prove their blackness when they’re out and about daily.”

My point is, let’s stop deluding ourselves and calling mostly anyone and everyone black because it’s going to backfire.

Like I said earlier in the thread, this reparations talk is useless because it would immediately go right back into the hands of CACs because you’d either have quadroons getting it or people with a white parent passing it down to CACs if they breed themselves out which can happen in one generation.

At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they gave us reparations just to say that they did it, knowing damn well it’s going right back to them.

Why do you guys act like reparations is going to be group money ? You can’t dictate how someone going to spend it.

Breh there's plenty of people, once again, who are more European than African who identify as Black and have throughout history, I'm sure your grandparents and most late 19th/early 20th century mixed fit this bill and still fit into the genepool. Without you would not be here.

I said 43% Nigerian with likely other African countries is closer to you, than what you originally speculated. You placed her at 30%, she is not.

There's is no real difference between a Steph Curry or Michael Ealy and a mixed person, all that "admixture" is a bunch of biracial people with a "full black" or two thrown in to make one's ancestors. Or by your logic, a bunch of non-black people making a present day "Black" person. I.e. you, and possibly me, as I have 1 biracial grandmother and maybe the other one, but we both know what we are.

I'm not getting into the reparations argument because I've been telling y'all the same thing on this topic much before it was even a realistic idea. We can break down percentages of people are public figures and seek out their ancestry, but in the real world there's been too many people who you would consider black who (grand)mothered/sired the current generation of black folks to run with this logic.

And truth be told there's nowhere near enough white Americans with black ancestry to threaten the desired exclusivity of reparations. And that poster who said what they said about Adonis was me.

Not dictate, but to predict. A lot of heads are concerned that when (yes, WHEN) FBA gets reparations, they will blow it on materialistic items. Too much of the black youth been raised on Cash Money and Puffy videos and think that European clothing = high status, while neglecting on using that reparations money and grow it to valuable assets like businesses and accounts.
