One of them is less then a mile from my house. What a shyt show. They just sent a bunch of national guard to take place of the guards who are outside on strike.
Apparently they are in there starving and complaining they are on 24 hour shifts for 120$ a day

Gotcha haven't done a dive into this one. I mean no matter what that doesn't give the cos an excuse to beat the guy to death no matter how much of a pos he was obviously. I read a few articles about the strike and the union and strikers are just all over the place about what they're actually mad about, what they want, and why. For instance they're losing their minds about the HALT act but it hasn't even been fully implemented. They're not mad about pay but they're mad about essentially forced overtime but they don't want to close more prisons which would free up staff. As far as the level of violence I'm sure that's a result of more violent prisoners actually being incarcerate instead of regular people that f'd up and that are now being diverting to probation/jail etc. I'm completely against the state continuing to use prisons as a job/economic incubator for upstate NY so I hope as many of them are closed as possible and quickly.

Even if you think trans people are an abomination Republicans used this as a distraction for things that REALLY MATTER like healthcare, housing wages etc. so that stupid people wouldn’t focus on who the real culprits are ie the mega wealthy stealing from the masses.
