...

i'm quitting?
bleek is up next?
foxy being the bonnie to jay's clyde (then making a song about it with his actual wife. twice. :usure:)
talking about doing joints with mary j blige, my nikkas. like that matters.

the shyt still knocks but :damn: it's dated and full of shyt that didn't happen. and all the features are ghosts now. jaz, wise, ja, amil, dmx and of course, M Xtra Money. too short is exempt, tho. let's be real.

it's a great album that everybody should have but if i gave that to a little cousin or a nephew, i'd have to sit there and explain the whole thing. the fukk i look like providing footnotes and shyt.

nikka what nikka who & a week ago are the only songs with any longevity & you could make an arguement for the title track even though i think the verses are trash and hook is corny.

basically HKL is the epitome of an in the moment album & a lesson for future artists. Don't lean to heavy on trends of the time. MCHG will suffer from the same fate.

that's part of the reason i made this thread but i didn't want to overload the OP.

and i think 'can i get a...' is still tight, too.

Every song on there is 4.5 mics.

Besides obvious classics like Paid in full, I don't think I know another album where every song is as dope in completely different ways. Baller shyt, street anthems, straight spittin, thought provoking shyt, stories, socially conscious shyt.

This album had like 14 completely different songs

Every album in the world is dated. That's one of the joys of listening to older music, it captures a time and place. Granted some styles and sounds get played out more than others, but that's part of the fun of listening to old music.

I remember that shyt being EVERYWHERE that fall. A year prior, people barely knew who the fukk Jay-Z was (mostly due to Pac).

I'll never understand why HKL was the song to blow Jay up. Probably the worst song he's ever made. I have never made it all the way thru that track.
