I just googled free SAT prep, and found many resources. They may not be at the same level as the paid courses, but the kids are going to have to practice some discipline, and that comes from their PARENTS.

At some point, you have to take responsiblity of your life, and stop expecting the system to help you. Everyone isn’t going to be born into a good home situation. Folks are going to have to work with their circumstances, and try harder. You have to set a goal, and be determined to make it.

And let’s not act like the Ivy League is the only path to success. The trades will always pay well. Having a skill has become more valuable in today’s job market than having an education. But it’s the responsiblity of the parents to provide their children with values and tools to succeed.

If you have a cellphone, you can study for standardized testing in your free time for no money. Even if a student doesn't get into an ivy league school, they can still gain admissions to the most prestigious universities in the country.

There's a lot of naivety in this thread . Do you believe that "self study on your cellphone" is the primary difference between a good SAT score and a poor one, or the single key that will magically get any black student into the most prestigious universities in the country?

Test prep and college advisors are essentially easy button scammers IMO

Yet the people engaged in them (at least the good ones) are not the type who tend to fall for a lot of easy scams.

For people who haven't studied the subject much, or haven't worked with a lot of students, there seems to be a thought in here that, "All you have to do to ace the SAT is study." Real life isn't like that at all. Study helps, and carefully-directed study helps more, but just studying only can do so much to raise any particular student's scores and there are a LOT more factors at play here.

1. It's about how educated your parents are
2. It's about how many words a day you were exposed to as a child
3. It's about how exposed you were to books and early math skills
4. It's about the quality of education you got all the way from preschool up through
5. It's about the quality of adult mentorship and social relationships you have available
6. It's about how much you were exposed to abstractions as a natural part of your development
7. It's about how much test study you get
8. It's about the quality and amount of test mentorship you get
9. It's about whether you feel comfortable in your testing environment
10. It's about how many second chances you get and whether you have clear direction to improve between tests.

All of those factors have a strong demonstrated influence on SAT results, and they aren't suddenly canceled out by a free online program.

Test study and college advisors make the biggest difference between two people with similar opportunities, to elevate one over another. For people in completely different starting places, they aren't going to suddenly leapfrog an average student from a more deprived background over someone who has been getting enrichment opportunities and quality schooling from infancy.

Black people will perpetually be in a state of behind cause of weak men like yourself.

This is the same clown talk we've already caught you at before. What black person have I ever kept behind?

I was raised around Black people from pre Civil Rights deep south that use to sharecrop that somehow were able to overcome that misery and buy homes and raise generations of family.

WTF does that have to do with the thread topic?

What was your SAT score and what school did you graduate from?

That woe is me shyt and word salad jargon you learned from those highfalutin cracka ass liberals you hang out with Professor isn't going to help Black people especially in lower economic situations in anyway shape or form. It works for your lil liberal friends cause their kids drink $8 lattes and take ballet classes after private school they really don't give af they'll be good either way. Now go dig up some more of my post cause you can't actually rebute what I originally stated.

Completely free for anyone to use.

Since you're obviously kind of ignorant on this topic, don't want to get educated, and are right-wing anyway so you don't even believe research studies, why not perform your own experiment.

1. Get a hold of 10 black kids in your community who want to do better on the SAT.
2. Give them the link for an SAT study program on their cell phone.
3. Report back in a year and tell us what their SAT scores were and how many got into Harvard.

If sharecroppers that had to walk 5 miles to school can somehow overcome obstacles to get where they want to in life and uplift themselfs from abject poverty, whats stopping and child currently in 2024 from doing the same in America please humor me? Other then lack of discipline towards education..... which is the reason why Asians test the highest its not because they are inherently smarter, they are pushed by PARENTS and their community to excel in education. Simple as that

Breh, that's the only way to know if your idea works or not. You try it out in the real world. Until then, you're just bullshytting.

Stop preaching advice that you've never even used yourself and have zero clue whether it works.

Trade school

Wait, so you've never even taken the SAT or applied to an elite college before, yet you're lecturing the rest of us on how the SAT works and how easy it is to get into elite schools?

:dahell:

WTF are you even talking about? The little speech you just made has NOTHING to do with the SAT.

You seem to be under the mistaken assumption that the SAT is some sort of perfect meritocratic test, just study hard and you'll ace it. It doesn't work that way, not even close. Like most "aptitude" tests, results on the SAT are heavily influenced by factors completely outside of the child's control. "Work harder black people!" is a good philosophy for doing better in life than you would have otherwise, but it won't mean you'll magically do better than someone who has 6 other factors working in their favor ahead of you.
