A lot of this comes from comparing current music to music from e.g. 10 years ago. When the 808 drumkit made a resurgence (what sounds to you like 'current drums' are actually drums from an old drum computer by Roland called the TR-808 that was used heavily in the 80's by rap producers and also in Miami Bass music, the star of the kit is the 808 kick drum). Almost all current producers use the 808 drum kit and to many people this is why 'everything sounds the same'. Also, a lot of rap artists flow the same, they may SAY different things, but to someone walking down the street and hearing a car come by with 1 of 10 the same sounding rappers.. it all sounds the same.a pierre beat sounds nothing like a nba young boy beat. and a kodak beat sounds nothing like an asap rocky beat
i dont even know where yall get this every beat sounds the same thing from
MIKE JONESWHO?

EDIT: just read you're a Producer, so I get how you're saying that all these beats sound different because you're deeply into it. It's like how parents could say 'all rap sounds the same' and young listeners would be be like 'WHAT? No!!'.
Post some beats bro
No you're right absolutely. They aren't 100% using the TR-808 drum machine or kit, but they are all variations of the TR-808 kit. The bass kick (that they like to play in tune with whatever chords or tones they are playing), the light snare, the hi-hat, the cowbell etc. are used non-stop - it's a variation for sure.Nobody uses the original TR-808 machine bass anymore.
There are probably 100+ different varieties and textures of 808 drum now, not to mention kits...even though nikkas clone kits and use thecsame sounds because they're popular...just not that specific one outside of Detroit, The Bay, Columbus, and Pittsburgh.
nikkas enjoy those old Cash Money and/or 3-6 type drums.
He said he does all his keys and doesn't sample, but got caught using multiple looperman loops.I dunno for sure but I think part of the reason he got clowned was because his production is also very boring and generic as well.

On some funny shyt, certain markets brought the OG back.No you're right absolutely. They aren't 100% using the TR-808 drum machine or kit, but they are all variations of the TR-808 kit.
