Has anyone ever joined a gang or experienced the life due to a relative/friend?

I always teased going into a gang because of my friends were members. A close friend of mine was a Gennesse Block Crip. I got to see the inside and out of the gang because I was always with him and he would tell me about the string of robberies and drug deals the gang would do. Honestly, it sounded like fun. But, I never went through it because basketball was my dream. I was somewhat of a affiliate because I knew the codes, language and almost everything about the gang. I just never took part in any of the crime and violence in the gang. My friend later on got shot in the jaw and now is serving 7 years for a conspiracy in a murder. To this day, I think what my life would have been if I joined the crips.

Nope. Never.

But I remember back in the day I had somewhat beef with wannabe gang bangers. Asian cats, Chinese Asian types. They had a big crew and rolled deep but they weren't real bangers. They thought they were but they weren't really bout that life.
