Received an offer today where the money isn't ideal, but the company is fantastic, the people are amazing, and it's in an industry I want to be in. Gonna try my best to negotiate up

I also have a couple more companies I'm in the final interview stages with. So an offer isn't guaranteed, but they are larger companies and would pay more if the offers do come my way. One in particular I've been very excited about and interviewed 3 times so far. But the workplace politics will very likely suck there (which is important to me), and it's in an industry I'm not as excited about.

I probably don't have enough time to wait until I have my final interview and receive an offer from them before I am expected to make a decision on the offer that I already have. If I wait it out to see where it goes, the salary might be 20-30k more, but I might come up empty-handed entirely.

What sayeth the professional wizards of the coli? @ocmfII ?

Man, what the call center shyt like? I got an offer of $17 but i would have a an hour commute, at best, both ways.
I just dont feel like doing something where annoying ass customers are gonna make me hate doing my 8+ hours.

I've done the opposite. Sit at the same job I've hated for 6 of the 11 years I've been here and complain and proscrastinate. Mostly because I've become too comfortable w the money. Not because I'm doing so exceptionally well compared to peers in my industry w the same experience. But because my whole lifestyle is based around being accustomed to a certain threshold of income. And starting over for me means such a drastic change. It's not a bad problem to have but it kinda sucks.

Your mind and body are valuable. You gotta know what the exact dollar:stress tradeoff is for you though.

At the same time... that extra money can buy you happiness in the form of better living standards, options, stability maybe, and quality of life.

There's no right answer. You gotta know you.

Yea, for 17, i could accelerate getting out of debt and getting my shyt right.mlike @ocmfII mentioned, when you hit a certain dollar amount, you can end up getting comfortable as fukk. I want to avoid dragging myself into some shyt that puts me in a certain tax bracket, then but i wake up mad as fukk, longing for the days i got to stand around doing practically no work. I would be doubling my pay overnight, though:wow:

Good call breh. You're so right. Gonna need to do some soul searching.

I would also love to take the job and just bounce if the other offer is irresistible. But man..... That's such a grimy move. I don't believe in it. But it might have to come to that.

work sucks in general, so it'd be hard to leave a significant amount of money on the table for a better work environment.
