Looking for something to make my workouts harder when I do Jump rope, Pull ups, Push ups, Walking, etc

:jbhmm:

Does it actually improve your workouts?

If so, which brands are the best?

I have one, adjustable up to 20 pounds. I wouldn't use it for jumping rope or running because of the impact on your knees though. Noticed a difference within a week or so.
I don't remember the brand, got it off Amazon a few years ago. Would recommend.

General Mills

More often than not I tend to take that L.

There's no difference between running or jumping rope with a weight vest than there is running wearing a rucksack, backpack, hiking bag, dumbbells. Or just gaining an extra 5, 10, 15, 20 lbs.

That being said @UpAndComing they work. A proper training you can get results whether performance or cardio. For football conditioning we'd test our 10 yard dash, our 40 and our vertical jump we'd jog, 2 miles with weighted vests for about a month then test our afterwards. Unless we had already hit our stride and maxes with proper training there was an increase in performance.

Yes, there's no difference in running or jumping rope while wearing a weighted vest and wearing a different object on your torso of equal weight. What is the point of saying that? :dahell:

They work but shyt ain’t some weighted clothing stuff you’ll see like in Naruto or DBZ. You’re still training in the same gravity with the same muscles, you just added some weight and maybe decreased your range of motion and possibly TuT.
:unimpressed:

I wouldn’t worry too much about brand, especially if the shyt ain’t made in America or Europe. :yeshrug: Just get what you can afford and whatever has the best padding on the shoulders and waist/lower back.

Like @Wildin said, a backpack or ruck will do the same shyt, as any military breh can tell you.

Also, be careful if you’re training on hard surfaces/concrete with one, your knees most likely won’t appreciate the extra pounds. :francis:

Y'all calisthenics brehs just gotta come terms that you're gonna have to eventually push some weight :lolbron:

That’s blasphemy on this site, where dudes that don’t eem lift believe 2 plates on bench is note- or threadworthy but also that cats can be pushing 4 wheels just from doing push-ups like their name is Saitama.

I had a 50lb weight vest I bought for the cpat.

Used to do 50 yrd bear crawls, gassers and then 30 mins on the stepmill. Would recommend.

You feel like Piccolo in the gym taking it off and dropping it lol

That's not true. I ran wind sprints in my 50lb vest and it made my knees stronger. The distance was 50 yards. And I ran them bytches hard. Knees was just fine.

Running and jumping with a weighted vest on isn't bad for your knees and ankles? Alright. If you do it, good for you. If op wants to do it, good for him. I won't be doing it again.
I did it with 50lbs....knees didn't get fukked up once. Ran on concrete, ran on turf, ran on hills.

It's not :manny:

And this has been debunked many times. The more you use your body the stronger it'll be. However the risk of injury is higher and more damage can be done, but that's the same with anything and the science is still out.

You also have to consider shoes are made better and your ankles and knees are a part of a kinetic chain. Marathons aren't new. And people used to run marathons in chuck Taylors for decades, literally no support, no real athletic or performance design behind them. There's still runners that are 60+ still running. And you got 30yr old mfs that can't stand up straight or run a 5k.

We are talking length of time training, activity and intensity level, as well as personal variables. If you were in a car accident and your leg or hip got broken running with a vest may not be for you.

You can make excuses for any activity, bench press, squat, deadlift, running, pullups, pushups....there's always going to be someone out there with junk science and an anecdote not to do something "the repetitive movements on your joints isn't good" "too much shock absorbed in your ligaments" i know you aren't making excuses. Everyone has there preference on exercises and i respect it.

Long story short if he decides to do it for a month or a few weeks it won't kill his knees or fukk up his back assuming he's active and healthy. And if you are active doing a certain activity shouldn't fukk you up.

We aren't recommending he do some CrossFit shyt :sas2:
