This is revisonist history for sure, Chance was one the biggest rappers around regardless of how you personally feel about his music.

I think his gimmick just got kind of stale is all, maybe the first time you heard this nikka moan over a gospel type beat it was cool and refreshing but the 50th time probably not so much. I thought the earlier Vic Mensa stuff was much better at the time.

Chance had cool verses though, I also feel like the character in Atlanta that was clearly him kind of stained his rep a bit among his listener base too

I always felt back then that Vic and Chance were both dope but felt like they sounded too much like each other so they both intentionally went out of their way to go in completely different directions and became complete trash because of it. Their fall offs are a big reason why we're missing a generation of rap stars post-"Big 3"

Man, I remember those 3 hats used to be everywhere. But holy shyt was "The Big Day" bad. Never really want to see artists rush music out, but breh going on six years with that being his last release really isn't helping.

That brief period where he was popping probably made him enough money to where he can disappear and never drop a second of music again. Don't know how much he might owe his label but when you add in the behind the scenes shyt he was doing for Kanye I'm sure he's touched a few million at least.

He might rebrand as a something else, a politician, a minister...all I know is he's likely rich enough to move how he wants to.

It's always been cool to hate him online, but I've kept this in rotation since it's dropped.

Still would really love to hear him and Vic go back forth on a whole tape that sounds like this.
