I work with a dude who told me he attempted suicide a few years back.
After almost dying, going to therapy and continuously taking antidepressants he feels much better.

I'm taking celexa now for chronic GAD due to chemical imbalance , I'm 2 weeks into it and the side effects are HELL. No appetite, restlessness, foggy head etc but I'm hoping it pays off in the end.

I took celexa for 8 months in 2011. And just got off after about a year in feb. I didn't have much side effects. They go away anyways once your body adjusts. They are a miracle drug for me. Shut down my anxiety

I been struggling after I devoloped GAD after a nasty flu in march, I been on ativan for months to relief the physical pain but I wanted something long term, so I'm giving celexa 20mg a try now and hoping I can overcome this obstacle.

Did ur GAD go away? And how long did celexa took for u to start feeling its effect?

celexa helped me a ton with GAD. it shut all my worry thoughts down. after 8 months of taking it in 2011 i tapered off them and the anxiety came back like 9 months later.....the GAD came back after i drank and smoked a whole cigar (i dont smoked) i guess thats what triggered it. then i had to take them for an entire year, 2013 - 2014.....just got off them in march.

i took 20mg also....half a pill for six days then onto full pills. uhhh it took me like a week to start feeling better, or two i dont remember. it might take you 3 to 4.....everybodies body is different

i dont think im going to take them again because they made me sleepy and tired as hell all day. gave me lactose intolerant, was farting all day for a a while :heh:

i just know how to control my worry and anxious thoughts now. and just deal with it. i read a couple good anxiety books and saw a therapist for like 4 sessions

but since its your first time taking it....i say go for it......celexa is awesome. lotta people hate on ssri's but they help a ton of people.

Any one tried xanax? Whats it take for a doc to prescribe that?

Unless u absolutely need it, don't get hooked on it (1 to 3 weeks). Xanax is part of the benzo family and the worst drug to come off of in terms of withdrawals. I'm in a tough situation because my dumb ass doc decided to cut me off of ativan (benzo) cold turkey and doesn't understand the consiquences that will come from it. I need to find a way to taper fast.

@track 1 thanx man, im definitely gonna wait and see now...hope it kicks in soon.

not really sure if its helping anymore. i've been on prozac for about 5 months, they put me on 80 mg for ocd symptoms which is a pretty high dose. i'm back down to 40 now. they gave me 2 other meds, and mostly i just feel tired, zoned out.

i get really good sleep now though, and have crazy dreams almost every night. they have continuous storylines & shyt. its weird

Make sure your depression isn't situational. If you are of a certain age and not doing shyt with your life you should be depressed imo. SSRIS should only be used when you have a legit mental illness that would make you depressed even if you were a million surrounded by pawgs.
