We all have an accent yo, just gotta go outside of wherever your accent originates from and there ya have it, you are now the person "with an accent"
In simpler terms, if youre from the south and stay in the south all the time it'll seem like you don't have an accent, you sound just like everyone else.
If you take your accent to NY people will tell you that you have an accent.. and vice versa and so on and so forth.. american stays in america, no big deal..american goes to south africa, he now has an extremely thick "american accent".

Don't we all have accents to a foreign person? Meaning someone who lives in the same location as us won't notice the accent but someone in a foreign place would notice it? I would imagine that to Africans or somewhere other than the US in general. I would sound funny to them.
