Seems like every week there's some doodle to celebrate some European pianist or painter no ones ever heard of yet I've rarely seen one for prominent African Americans. Am I being paranoid here or do they regularly do one for us

Yeah, they did one for Malcolm X a while back. 
They've done quite a bit actually
& of course they've had MLK, Rosa Park, Harriet Tubman, BHM commemorations and I think I remember seeing Henrietta Lacks and a few more "obscure" historical figures. They alright by me

1 star for not knowing Google put black people in their doodles pretty often and crying about some damn Google doodle like it means that much
