TBH Drake always showed him love and gave him respect. I'm sure he feels good about it.
Wouldnt be surprised if phonte was one of drakes ghostwriters. How phonte feeding himself and his family then? It obviously isnt from his own music. Phonte trying to protect his breadbasket.
Man you bugging, he does shows and he part of that singing group now Foreign Exchange. I'm sure he does shows overseas and shyt and gets some good dough.

To this very day, that simple internet interaction between Tay and Nicolay ended up being the foundation for hip hop leading into the modern times :banderas:

Im a diehard phonte fan and despise Drake right about now but this was not a case of ‘stealing his style’, it was merely influence. An influence he openly gave flowers for. Influence just like literally every rapper has an influence

And most importantly, this is less a cape for Drake and more a standing up for Phonte bc he and Drake are nothing alike. If you think so that’s a slap in the face to Phonte

And Drake becoming popular happened on a completely parallel universe to Phonte. Drake’s success did not stop Phonte from some imaginary blow up.

So, yea, I don’t like that beige fukk but dead this

Drake used to be performing their songs at concerts and saying phone was one of the best rappers alive and one of his biggest influences.

And this is after he gained megastardom

Aubrey has at least always given Phonte his flowers and called him one of GOATs. When he started he was basically Phonte Budden out there lol

Phonte knew it didn’t matter to Aubrey’s primary demographic , adolescent to young adult casual hip hop listening women, so he didn’t fight that battle

Drake is a very slick dude, he plays the friend and influence game well to get what he needs and moves on :russ: The amount of artists he briefly collaborated with, praised, leveraged their sound, then abandoned is wild.

Not mad though :manny: game is the game and helped create some great mainstream music.
