The bays culture is heavy in American society not just music. If you talking pimpin and game itself thats bay all day. As a matter of fact I think the players ball originated in the bay. So if you talking game and independent hustle the bay is the Mecca for that.

NYC gave birth to many different styles and dominated hip hop for years. At one point if you wanted to be mainstream you needed approval from nyc,whether it was the rappers, radio, media etc. The thing is if you couldn't get on in NYC independent was your only lane. Independent is more of a difficult route so it's not who contributed more because they both offered a substantial amount to the game just at different levels.
