Has the protest movement already been hijacked/appropriated?

I don't know many Black folks that when asked what are some good first steps, would answer by suggesting that Black Lives Matter be stenciled in the streets. Not because they don't believe in BLM, but b/c this just screams of performance activism.

The BLM movement was exposed long ago for being a pro LGBT, anti black men organization. I dont know how they were allowed to continue being the face of the movement.

Its really not a surprise that they're trying use these recent murders to push a gay agenda when gay people have been catered to since Obama took office.

"Organizers" in several cities have been caught collaborating with the police. :sas1:

Be mad about street art and gays instead, though. :sas2:

Why do people act like corps getting behind BLM and the movement's ability to in-act change are mutually exclusive?

Yes corps can support it and yes the movement can still lead to change.

Do we prefer corps not supporting? Like when businesses wouldn't let us eat at the counter?

That really depends on what you call support. How many corporations are answering the call to look at the lack of diversity in their senior leadership and make tangible changes. How many of the corporations releasing statements that they stand in solidarity with the movement have done anything other than a public letter saying so and internal memo to employees saying such?

There is no issue with corporations, especially those who get a large amount of black money, standing with the movement but they need to do more than just "stand".
