I don't know that much about Catholicism, but I know people highly respect the Pope :lolbron: Why is that :patrice: My mother was even happy when he first came to the States, she was in the hospital and the joy when she saw him:wow: What is it about the Pope?:martin: Only entity I worship is G-d. This has gotta be idolatry 101.

BTW, have we ever had a Pope of African decent :hamster:

In Orthodox Christianity, the first Pope was the Apostle Peter (of the 12 disciples). The Pope is the physical stand-in for Christ himself and is the head of the Church (big C not little c). He is part of what is known as the Apostolic Succession (priestly succession in laymen terms). This can be dated back to Holy Week, the Maunday Thursday washing of the feet that Christ performed on his Apostles. Although Pentecost is said to be the birth of the Church, this is the birth of the Papacy.

Oh, and there have been black Popes before, or at the very least Popes from northern Africa.

TL;DR, the is the head of the Church and earthly representation of Christ incarnate.

If you actually want to go in deeper, please PM me. I have studied orthodox theology and Christian apologetics (not what you think it means) for nearly a decade.

However I joined this site for fukkery, and refuse to talk religion unless its 1 on 1.

If there is anything I learned about history is there is always some black guy who did it first, some white guy steals the fire then claims it as his own and writes the black dude out of history.

The first few Popes were most likely African ancestry cuz it always it.

Sewanee, aka The University of the South.

Little known fact, I wanted to become a priest after I graduated from Vanderbilt.

I'm a dropout too breh, it's not my calling. I'm a horrible person frfr, not cloth material. But I have a strong academic appreciation for anything related to Church history :lawd:

It's fascinating but I found it personally useless :ehh:
Breh I've been a footstep away from joining several orders across a variety of religions :mjlol:
