has herp. found out a little over a month ago.

MPWH and another app called PS (positive singles) are the main apps for people with STI's to meet (made by the same developers). PS ALREADY was charging for membership and I guess the more popular MPWH got it only made sense to start charging there too.

I actually planned on deactivating my accounts as where I live theres a very low user base. (and not because HSV is rare, more on that later)

The fee for the site is a blessing and curse. Blessing because its a deterrent for people who would create an account just to expose people but a con because its predatory (desperation was my initial reason to join the sites) and alotta people who have HSV cannot afford a regular 30 dollar fee every month (that money is better used toward medication/medical visits).

Let me say this brehs: before you cast a stone judging myself and other people who have STI's, get yourself tested with A FULL PANEL. As in a lab test.

Most local health departments DO NOT test for HSV unless you already have a culture (i.e. a outbreak). The only way to test for HSV with no culture is through a blood test called a IGG test, which is available in a full panel test. I recommend that every sexually active person get a full panel lab test.

You can get these tests through third party labs called stdtestexpress.com and stdcheck.com. You basically go to a lab, get a blood test and walk out (takes 15 mins). Far less time consuming and humiliating than the health department.

Problem is that they can cost around $250 on up (however insurance can foot the bill in some instances)

Facts about HSV:

*its transferred from skin to skin. Oral sex and even non direct penetration skin to skin contact spreads it. Condoms are not a fool proof protection.

*HSV doesn't react the same way to two different people. Some have outbreaks monthly. Some go decades with no outbreaks. ANd the first outbreak can be so negligible youd think it was mild cold.

*the most dangerous way HSV spreads? Viral Shedding. Basically 36 days of the year HSV is at its most contagious due to this and you can be shedding even when youre not having an outbreak.
