Have to go to court over a credit card in the morning

So, six or so years ago, I got laid off from my job at a major university and lived on credit cards for six months. I obviously didn't pay them bytches back and kept it moving. Fast forward last year and one of the companies sold the debt to one of these fukking slimy junk debt collectors and they're suing me for roughly 5k. The paperwork exhibits they sent me are pretty janky and don't contain a contract or any fukking definitive proof that I owe the debt. I was considering a payment plan but I decided to take that shyt to trial. Any advice brehs?

Sue? Usually they just keep calling. I guess the debt is large enough that other companies will keep buying it.

Bruh you gotta realize they bought that debt for pennies on the dollar. The company calling you easily spent no more than a few hundred on that debt. Tell em you'll give em a rack if they remove it otherwise they can kick rocks.

They cannot sue you? Only the cc company could.

Ask for it in writing. Offer them much less and get it all in writing. Do not give them access to your bank account.

Try to settle with them breh. Offer them 500.

Then build an emergency fund ASAP.

They sued me. CC company sold the debt. I got a summons and all that shyt. The date is tomorrow morning.

I've never heard of anyone getting sued for that small an amount. I wonder if they peeped your current job/income and figured they can get a judgement and garnish your wages.

Yeah it's rare but it almost happened to me years ago ended up doing a payment plan had no desire for court but I didn't owe nearly that much.
