Was thinking about this earlier today with respect to a woman I saw on a tube site. She was looking like what someone thinks of when they think of a butch lesbian, but every scene that kept showing up was her with a man or by herself. I thought about the women I know and work with and they seem to fall into two tiers: 21st century feminine(athleisure, dresses, tight fitting clothes with varying degrees of sloppiness) or masculine(Loose jeans and slacks all the time, hoodies with less colorful designs, more broad tailoring) and the ones that fall into the masculine category have been lesbians, bisexual, or on the way to becoming some kind of non-binary or transgender.
It seems these days that if a woman wears a more masculine style, or has her hair cut shorter in less traditionally feminine ways you can just safely assume she's never been around Harlem and you can save your energy. It's been a minute since I've met a woman who actually identifies as straight and has a less girly style

. That all changed my 10th grade year of high school when I put on a skirt. Folks were giving me major play. I’ve always gotten attention BUT I started getting attention. Definitely more girlie but every now and then I throw on my sweats and sneakers .. it brings me back. Also all tomboys don’t like girls because my ass didn’t.
