First, is this just a Christian thing? Have you had one? If someone asked you, would you do it? Why or why not?

No, but I have Godparents for my daughter. My child’s mother and I took that serious, as we made sure that we chose individuals that, if something happened to us, they’d step up if need be. Her godparents went to A&T with us, majored in the same degree program as my BM and I, and The Godfather is my best friend, like a brother. My BM picked the godmother. We got them both together, and asked, they accepted.

I’m a Christian, but I don’t know if it’s a Christian thing, but I guess the name would suggest it to be so. I had Godparents. They lived in Texas, and went to school with my parents; were their best friends. She used to send me gifts every year for my birthday and for Christmas. If I was asked to be a Godfather, I’d consider it an honor and be it. If/when my homies/brothers have kids, I got them even without the title.

No, it's not just a Christian thing. I'm the Godfather to my boys kids. Never thought of saying no. It's an honor.
