Hearing about @charmander and seeing people die weekly off these drugs/accidents/getting old... I'm starting to think about death a lot more. What's going to happen when I die? Who's going to notify my friends? How would they know? Will I give anyone instructions on what to say? What to post on my page... Or just let it all go?

I got kids now. Yea they are on my life insurance so they'll get a fat check.. But I don't have a trust set up like I should. I don't have notarized paperwork explaining exactly what to do with each item I own. I don't have my burial wishes typed up. Yea I've explained some things to some people, but that's not legal. Am I setting my family up for a huge fight and fukkery? What will the people in my life think of all the things they'll discover about me. I know there's gonna be a few upset women finding out I wasn't as faithful as they thought I was. When's the last time I told my friends I love them?

And this shyt can happen any second :damn:

Go outside this morning, slip, crack your head, you finished. No "tell Tommy I said............" "Let momma know I always..........." Nah. It's just a snap of the finger and you are gone.

I don't really have a point to this... Just damn... So fukking quick and I am NOT prepared :mjcry:

Already made along with other preparations. Basically if I die without an heir apparent, all my shyt goes to my bro, including my journals, vast collection of stored media, from Box loads of floppys to a few Terrabyte Hard drives sitting in ziplocked bags. Not to mention the password to my gaming accounts so he can distend his own backlog further.

At this stage in my life, I don't owe anyone I'm in contact, shyt.:manny:

First off I doubt ud need a trust at this point. Second if you want your kids to ultimately get your assets split evenly when you die and your not married that will happen with or without a will.

Thirdly if you are indeed interested in drawing up an estate plan make an appointment with an ESTATE attorney (not just a general attorney) and provide them all your details. Consult and writing up estate plan as simple as you would need would be about 800-1500 depending on how complex it is.

Start out with a will and (whole) life insurance.

As your assets increase, step up into a living trust. A living trust bypasses probate court.

Depending on your personal circumstances, you can add asset protection strategies to this as well.

That's what I thought.. The check for my kids would be well into the 6 figures. I figured it would just be left to whoever is their living guardian (in case me and their mom go down in the same crash)

Someone else informed me that's really stupid. You just gonna give a huge lump sum to somebody, even the mom, with no checks and balances on how it's spent, what's left for them till 18, what type of accounts it's going into, nothing. Maybe you don't need a trust, but you definitely need some rules
